FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What are the key benefits of belonging to HomeWaters versus other options? Our members enjoy access to the largest portfolio of private trout streams in North America at a fraction of what it would cost to own comparable property. In addition, club concierge services ensure that valuable getaway time is spent fishing rather than attending to travel details and demands.
2. How far will I have to travel to HomeWaters? If you are driving from within the Connecticut-Washington DC-Columbus, Ohio triangle, HomeWaters East is only 2-3 hours away, in the rolling farmlands and hills of Pennsylvania. From Colorado’s Vail and Steamboat Springs, a 10-90 minute drive will bring you to nearly 50 miles of club waters and pristine streams.
3. How can HomeWaters always guarantee a place for me to fish? HomeWaters maintains more than enough water to meet members’ needs. Membership is limited according to the number of “beats”—stretches of water that can support a full day of fishing for two people—currently in inventory.
4. Do I have to pre-schedule? Ninety-five percent of our members do. All club waters are set up in beats to ensure completely secluded fishing. You are welcome to book anywhere from a week to a year in advance.
5. How many miles of water does the club manage? HomeWaters cultivates and maintains an ever-expanding portfolio of private waters, currently about 75 miles worth, with plans to double inventory within the next five years.
6. What about plans for the future? Will HomeWaters be expanding? In 2001, the club began with two miles and six members. Seven years later, we now have over 75 miles and 180 members. During the next decade, HomeWaters will explore expansion options into the Shenandoah Valley, the western Carolinas, southwest Colorado, the Ozarks, Catskills, Jackson Hole, Park City, northern California and Bend, Oregon.
7. In addition to a family membership, can I bring friends who are not related? Members are welcome to bring a non-family guest up to five angling days each year.
8. Are HomeWaters fishing guides mandatory? Our guides are hands down the best in the business. But no, about 30 percent of club properties are considered “guide-optional.”
9. Will there be opportunities to own a cabin on one of the club properties? Yes. HomeWaters will be offering its first cabins for sale during 2009. Offering is available by prospectus, in person only.
10. Will I catch fish? Absolutely. No “skunk” days. As close to a sure thing as you can get.
