Private Fly Fishing
Truly private fly fishing waters are far and few between in North America. As the popularity of the sport has risen, rivers and streams that were once pristine and peaceful have become crowded and over-fished. Recognizing this downward trend, HomeWaters Club’s long-term preservation efforts and investment in our natural resources has resulted in over 75 miles of unspoiled quiet waters teeming with blue-ribbon trout of trophy proportions.
Located close to where our members live and work, the idea of escaping to all-private fly fishing waters for a day or weekend is a convenient reality. And with concierge service and well-appointed cabins and cottages within feet of immaculate streams, there are no details to worry over. All of your time can be spent with feet firmly planted streamside with rod in hand, savoring the solitude and quality time with family.
At HomeWaters Club’s East or West locations, you will find solace in some of the finest fly fishing waters in the world.
Private Family Retreats
Think back to when you were a kid. What are your happiest family memories? If you are older than 50, I’ll bet your best family memories were not from being entertained at over-contrived theme parks or crowded ski mountains or fancy fake resorts with heated pools. No way. Close your eyes and picture going to Grandpa Pete’s cabin in the mountains... climbing trees, building forts, collecting butterflies and salamanders or playing hide-and-seek after dark. Or what about the excursions to Aunt Gertie and Uncle Glen’s cottage on the lake... learning to paddle a canoe, catching your first fish, swimming in ice-cold water or roasting weenies and marshmallows on a stick over a real campfire. Those were the days...building and flying your first kite, skipping stones with dad, floating down the river on an inner tube, learning to shoot a BB gun, stringing beads with grandma, learning to bake pies at Aunt Minnie’s, driving a jeep in the woods at age 13 and sleeping under the stars.
Guess what? Your kids or grandkids will still love exactly the same things that you did. And we’ve got them in spades at HomeWaters... in the mountains just a stone’s-throw away from the urban jungles like New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Pittsburgh (or near over-crowded resorts like Vail and Steamboat.) Every one of our private remote-yet-close camps have been hand-selected by Donny and Pam Beaver with one major objective in mind: to conserve special mountain properties so their grandchildren’s grandchildren would learn to love God’s great outdoors and pass it on in perpetuity.
Private Couples Retreats
Pam and I love to get away to a very private cabin in the mountains or along a river. Sometimes by ourselves, sometimes with other couples. We really enjoy picnic lunches, walks in the woods, riding mountain bikes, reading a good book along a mountain stream, cooking mountain pies on a campfire or snuggling in a sleeping bag and gazing at shooting stars. It’s great to shut off our mobile phones and laptops, to re-engage and hold hands and sing Kum Ba Yah. Speaking of singing, we’ve tried to create special spots for our family and friends that foster an environment that reminds us of John Denver’s song Poems, Prayers & Promises:
And talk of poems and prayers and promises And things that we believe in How sweet it is to love someone How right it is to care How long it's been since yesterday And what about tomorrow And what about our dreams And all the memories we share
We strive to create shared lifetime memories that get passed through couples from generation to generation. We hope you’ll join Pam and me.
Private Business Breakaways
As a young husband, father and entrepreneur I was faced with a major dilemma. My rapidly-growing businesses could easily consume all my time and tear me away from my family. One of my main challenges was learning how to balance time entertaining clients and suppliers against family time. In the 1970s, the standard practice was to do “guy things” with clients: golf, drink, ballgames, drink, gamble, drink (did I mention drink?). Every one of these activities separated me from my wife and kids and I determined there had to be a better way. Fortunately, I learned that I could get a leg up on my competitors by entertaining in a family-friendly environment.
At first, I rented a cabin in the mountains along a stream and invited other business families to join our family. We’d line up lots of fun stuff for everyone to do together. We’d teach them to fish, shoot, read a compass and map, climb rocks, canoe, kayak and just have fun, fun, fun. Once my family bonded with a client’s family, I had a customer—for life. It was a totally unfair advantage over my competitors, but that’s business. Turns out, my wife and kids grew to love the outdoors as much as I and we all grew closer together during what could have been difficult years. Who says your can’t mix business and family?
Since the cabins were near where most of my clients and suppliers lived, I could use them for short business day meetings AND overnights. Before long, I realized I could pull off a business meeting that started on Thursday morning and continued to Friday afternoon with my colleagues. Then our wives would grab the kids after school on Friday and join us for the weekend—PRICELESS. By the time my kids were ages 12 and 8, we concluded we had created a special way to do “family business” and decided to focus our efforts on sharing our blueprint with other business families. Hence the genesis of what has grown into HomeWaters Family Business Retreats.
Our formula remains the same: :: Discover private mountain retreats along trout streams :: Located within short driving distance of major metro areas in the east and ski resorts in the west :: Secure long-term interests in the properties :: Create family-friendly environments with fun and unique outdoor experiences guided by professional staff :: Invite business families to join us
Today’s fast-paced world conspires against our families. HomeWaters offers a place to retreat and recharge with the ones we love, while reinforcing our business relationships. We invite you to experience HomeWaters first hand. It will change the way you think about family and business.

Hunting
At the crack of dawn the shrill mating bugle of a bull elk makes you almost jump out of your hunting clothes. Your professional guide replies with a soft, winsome cow elk “come here big guy” reply. The 800-pound male closes the 200-yard distance to your blind in what seems like a millisecond. At 25 yards you can see the steam spouting from his flared nostrils. Your heart pounds. Your mind races. The adrenaline rush causes you to shake uncontrollably. Your guides say, “take a deep breath, just like we practiced.” You draw your bow the way your ancestors did thousands of years before. This is the moment of truth. You’ve never felt so alive.
If you enjoy the thrill of hunting elk, deer, upland birds, waterfowl or wild turkey, you’ll love HomeWaters. You can hunt safely in the complete privacy of the thousands of acres of land we manage across Pennsylvania and Colorado. Always wanted to learn to hunt? Our expert shooting instructors and professional guides will patiently teach you every step of the way.
Glamour Tenting (Glenting)
Enjoy safari-style camping in both our Eastern and Western locations and discover glamour tenting at it's very best. If your idea of getting away is a cool night's rest just a short cast from a private-access trout stream or river, a glent outing may be just your ticket.
Sporting Clays
While we're known largely for our penchant for finding and preserving trout water for the benefit of our members, fly fishing isn't the only way to spend your time at the Club. Piney Valley Ranch Sporting Clays supplies a unique diversion from Colorado's rivers and streams that combines sporting clays with legendary Rocky Mountain scenery.
