FISHING REPORTS

APRIL 16, 2024

The beginning of last week fished really well with water levels settling into nice fishing shape after the heavy rain and flood water conditions the week before. Wednesday and Thursday of last week we received another batch of rain that had the streams unfishable on Friday, and created high, off color water conditions over the weekend.

Anglers who spent the weekend with us experienced good fishing subsurface with nymphs. As this week continues we should see water levels come into good shape for April fishing.

This week's weather is currently calling for a 50% chance of some rain on Wednesday but otherwise looks to be relatively dry with cloud cover Wednesday through Sunday. The forecast calls for high temperatures to be near 60 during the day with temperatures dropping back into the 40's overnight.

We've had Grannoms hatching between the periods of higher water on Spruce Creek and the Little J over the last week, and we hope to see a few more days of bugs hatching this week as the water conditions get into better shape for dry fly fishing. With recent water conditions, dry fly fishing has been limited, but subsurface fishing with nymphs has remained very productive.

The ground is saturated, so we should be set up for great water conditions for upcoming weeks. With current conditions and this week's forecast, it should be a great week to be at HomeWaters. Come fish!

Upcoming Availability: This coming weekend into early next week we have a rare excess availability considering the time of year.

From April 20th through the 23rd there are at least three Guide Required or Guide Optional beats available on Spruce and Penns every day, and two beats available on Yellow Creek each day. Escape members don’t forget you can schedule reservations up to a week in advance this time of year when there is extra availability like we have this coming weekend.
